Dual nationals watch: Chelsea striker Fiabema gets first call-up to Norway U21s
Published: June 06, 2023Chelsea's Nigeria-eligible center forward Bryan Fiabema has received his first call-up to Norway U21 squad ahead of international matches this month.
The Norwegians will face Scotland in two friendly matches as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2025 European U21 Championship qualifiers.
The first game will hold at the Estadio Olìmpico Camilo Cano, La Nucia on June 15 and the second at the Estadio Nueva Condomina, Murcia on June 18 with kickoff scheduled for 1800 hours and 1200 hours respectively.
Fiabema, born in 2003 to a Norwegian mother and Nigerian father, has earned a promotion to Norway's U21 national team after previously playing for all the age groups including the U15, U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 squads.
Overall, the striker has appeared in 41 matches for Norway's youth teams, scoring fifteen goals.
Norway U21 manager Jan Peder Jalland has kept faith with Fiabema despite struggling for game time at Chelsea in the second half of the season after returning from a loan spell at Forest Green Rovers.
The 20-year-old made just one appearance for Chelsea's development squad in 2023 amid speculation surrounding his future.
Fiabema is joined on the Norway U21 roster by YMCA's Petter Nosakhare Dahl who has a Nigerian passport.
