Manager Antonio Conte believes Chelsea loanee Victor Moses can be a key player for Inter Milan provided he is in tip-top condition following his outstanding display on Wednesday.
Deployed as a right wing-back in a 3-4-1-2 formation, the former Nigeria international put in his best display to date in an Inter Milan shirt as they hammered Brescia 6-0 in the Serie A.
Moses was involved in the build-up to the opening goal when his flick found Alexis Sanchez and the Manchester United loanee crossed to Ashley Young, who volleyed home past goalkeeper Jesse Joronen from inside the area in the 5th minute.
Twenty minutes in, the referee pointed to the spot after Moses was felled in the 18-yard area following an excellent first touch by the Nigerian.
Conte used Moses as wing-back during his two years at Chelsea and the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner, who is predominantly a winger, caught the eye playing an unfamiliar role.
"I’m happy with Victor Moses, as he worked with me at Chelsea, and if he’s in good shape physically, he can become a protagonist," Conte told DAZN post-match.
"This is a squad that cannot be reproached in terms of heart, generosity and sacrifice, but they need to be more concentrated, make fewer errors and be less naïve, as at times those incidents make us drop points, which in turn can be devastating psychologically."
Everything is pointing to the fact that Moses's loan deal with Inter has been extended until the end of the 2019-2020 Serie A season as he would not have been eligible to feature against Brescia based on the original agreement.
