Through a statement on their official website, German Regionalliga Nord champions VfB Lübeck have announced the signing of Austrian-born defensive midfielder of Nigerian descent, Osarenren Okungbowa on a one-year deal.
The 26-year-old has joined VfB Lubeck from Austrian Second League side Floridsdorfer AC, where he has spent eighteen months.
A left-footer, Okungbowa was on the books of Austrian giants Rapid Vienna for eight years (2010-2018), before joining St. Pölten.
"I had very good discussions with the trainer Rolf Landerl, " says Okungbowa.
"These made it easy for me to take the step away from home for the first time. I'm looking forward to the challenge in the far north. "
VfB Lübeck sports director Rocco Leeser added : "He is more of a late bloomer due to injuries.
"He can be used multifunctionally as a 6-man or central defender, very athletic and powerful in a duel. He brings the necessary calm on the ball."
Okungbowa is expected to begin training with his new teammates at VfB Lübeck in mid-July.
