Manchester United youngster of Nigerian descent Shola Shoretire has made his debut in the Premier League 2 after featuring in the 2-0 loss to Leicester City at the Leigh Sports Village on Monday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Aged just 16, Shoretire made his way onto the pitch after 65 minutes to replace Connor Stanley as Neil Wood's side sought a foothold back into the game having fallen two goals behind.
The striker nearly got one in the dying embers of the encounter when he went on a sizzling run at the opposition defence but was denied by the quick reflexes of Foxes goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.
Shoretire has been a pivotal member of the club's U-18 team prior to his Premier League 2 debut this night, and is expected to play more role for the U-23s this season.
Another Nigeria-eligible starlet, Dillion Hoogewerf was not involved for the young Red Devils for this evening's fixture.
Next up in the league for United's U-23s, is a home game against Liverpool.
