Speaking at Friday's pre-match press conference ahead of Sheffield United's Premier League meeting with Leeds United, Blades boss Chris Wilder provided an update on the club's chase for a striker, with the close of the summer transfer window nearing.
Sheffield United are in discussions with Liverpool and Arsenal over moves for Rhian Brewster and Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid Folarin Balogun respectively but have not been able to push through a deal.
Sheffield United's squad have been weakened with Lys Mousset out injured and they have lost their first three games of the new season in all competitions.
When asked about bringing in a new striker, specifically Balogun and Brewster, Wilder was quoted as saying by YorkShire Live : "Not really comfortable. It’s difficult to sit here and say we haven’t made enquiries.
"I am uncomfortable talking about other players. We have enquired about a number of players and hopefully we will get one over the line.
"It’s an area from last year on reflection where we need to improve and get better quality in that group, especially with Lys not being available. "
Mikel Arteta has not considered Balogun for Arsenal's first team in the new season as a result of uncertainty surrounding his future at the Emirates Stadium.
