Kelechi Iheanacho's scoring streak ended after he failed to get on the scoresheet as Leicester City were beaten 2-0 by champions-in-waiting Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Nigeria international was riding high on confidence before today's meeting against his former club, having netted in four consecutive matches in all competitions.
Iheanacho was named in the starting lineup along with international teammate Wilfred Ndidi., but they were substituted in the 72nd and 83rd minute respectively.
Against the Citizens, the Foxes resilience was ended by Benjamin Mendy, the French fullback steering the ball home with his weaker right foot in the 58th minute and their fate was sealed by Gabriel Jesus with sixteen minutes left on the clock.
Speaking just before the game started, former Manchester United striker Michael Owen was of the opinion that Iheanacho was selfish during his days with Manchester City and for a large part of his career with Leicester City because he was desperate to make a quick impression due to his limited game time.
Owen said on Premier League Productions : "You're coming into a big team (Man City), you are only getting five minutes, ten minutes to the end of the game.
"You want to make a statement, get me in that team, so all of a sudden he has developed that selfishness about him.
"Then he goes to Leicester, didn't start all the time as well and I think that's where the selfishness comes from.
"But now all of a sudden, he's starting, playing ninety minutes, we're seeing his more all-round game".
In 182 appearances combined in all competitions for both Manchester City and Leicester City, Iheanacho is credited with 25 assists.
