William Troost-Ekong has revealed that Watford's promotion to the English Premier League on Saturday is among the highlights of his career.
Troost-Ekong has had fine moments in his career, including winning bronze at the Olympics and Africa Cup of Nations, playing in the World Cup and making his Serie A debut for Udinese.
The Nigeria international is one of the most used players in the Watford squad, featuring in 32 Championship matches this season, despite joining the club at the back end of September.
In twenty-six of those games the central defender played the full ninety minutes, scoring one goal against Coventry City in November.
"It's one of the best days in my life and in my career so far. We worked so hard for it and now we've done it, so I'm really pleased for all the boys."
The former Tottenham Hotspur schoolboy thanked everyone associated with Watford, admitting that it is a dream of his to play in the Premier League.
"Credit to everyone from the backroom staff, to the media staff, to the manager, to all the physios, to the owner, to everyone. It’s amazing and it’s been a team effort.
"A lot of the time when you have a relegation it's difficult to pick yourselves up. Everyone at the club did amazing to give us the best chance and now we're here, so we're all really happy."
Troost-Ekong comes from a family of Watford fans and they were delighted to see the Hornets return to the big league.
