Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has set a target of reaching the final of next year's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Three-time African champions Nigeria were handed a relatively easy group for the tournament holding in Cameroon, with matches against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau in the group stage.
Rohr highlighted that the Super Eagles have in their ranks Watford quartet William Troost-Ekong, Isaac Success, Emmanuel Dennis and Oghenekaro Etebo.
The German football tactician namechecked ex-Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Everton winger Alex Iwobi as the stars in the current generation of Super Eagles when discussing his ambitions for the AFCON.
Ighalo, 2019 AFCON Golden Boot winner, called time on his international career after the tournament in Egypt but Nigerian Federation chiefs and Rohr are trying to persuade him to reverse his decision.
Speaking to Egyptian television channel Ontime Sports on Tuesday, hours before the draw in Yaounde, Rohr stated : "We want the best and reach the final, after we got third place in the African Nations in Egypt in the last edition. Nigeria is now a strong team.
"We have the World Cup qualifiers until the end of the year, after which I will decide whether we will win the title or not.
"In every match, we are looking for players from our own generation, such as Ighalo, Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi, and we have 4 players in Watford in England."
AFCON 2021 will be Rohr's third major tournament as coach of the Super Eagles after leading the country to the 2018 World Cup and the AFCON the following year.
