Former Red Devils midfielder Luke Chadwick would love to see Manchester United make a move for Wilfred Ndidi as from the January transfer window.
Chadwick believes United need to add a holding midfielder to the squad and mentioned the Super Eagles star as a potential acquisition even though the transfer will be difficult to pull off.
Ndidi is in his sixth season in the
Premier League, and has impressed since
making the move from Belgian side Racing Genk in 2017.
The Super Eagles star is born to play the role of a holding midfielder with his fierce tackles and interceptions being a key part in helping Leicester City maintain
so many clean sheets in recent seasons.
Since making his Premier League debut against Chelsea on January 14, 2017, the Nath Boys product has racked up 152 appearances in the English top-flight, scoring seven goals.
"Ndidi is a bit of a shining light at Leicester, " Chadwick said to Caughtoffside.
"He does that defensive midfield job really well, covers a lot of ground, uses the ball really effectively. He’s not that spectacular in his style but he’s a good passer on the ball......"
He added : "There’s been a lot of attention on that position for United and you do imagine a signing will happen at some stage, if not in January then at the end of the season.
"Ndidi certainly fits the bill and I’m sure if the finances are there then he’d be a target. Leicester are more of a selling team, as we’ve seen the likes of Kante and Mahrez who’ve gone on to bigger clubs.
"Ndidi certainly seems like one to keep an eye on. He’s made a very promising start to his Premier League career and I’m sure he’s someone United will have been keeping tabs on."
Ndidi will play no part when Leicester City welcome Manchester United to
the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon as he is still recovering
from a hamstring injury.
