Match Telegraph : Super Eagles midfielder Mikel wanted by 31-time Bulgarian champions

According to an exclusive report by Bulgarian sports daily Match Telegraph , 31-time Bulgarian champions CSKA Sofia are in advanced talks with Portuguese setup Vitoria Guimaraes over the signing of Super Eagles star Mikel Agu.

CSKA Sofia are hoping to close the deal in the next few weeks when the January transfer window opens for business.

The second option is for the Porto-reared defensive midfielder to sign a preliminary contract with the Reds with a view to joining the club on a free transfer next summer.

Mikel will enter the last six months of his contract in January and can begin discussing with his suitors in the next five weeks.

The 28-year-old has fallen out of favour at Vitoria Guimaraes in the new season, with no single appearance to his name after eleven rounds in the Primeira Liga.

He is a product of BJ Foundation, the Benin City-based grassroots club where the likes of Victor Moses, Elderson Echiejile and Isaac Success spent their formative years as footballers.

On his curriculum vitae, Mikel enjoyed loan spells at Club Brugge, Vitória de Setúbal and Bursaspor during his eight-year association with Porto, before joining Vitoria Guimaraes permanently in 2019.
