An excellent individual display from Malcolm Ebiowei ensured that Derby County and Chelsea shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller in an U18 Premier League Cup clash at Moor Farm Training Centre in Derbyshire on Saturday afternoon.
Ebiowei trained with the Golden Eaglets squad in Turkey and was named in the country's provisional squad for the 2019 U17 World Cup.
The former Arsenal schoolboy and two other players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Ola Ibrahim and Bayo Fapetu started for the Rams, while 2019 Nigeria U17 invitee goalkeeper Prince Adegoke, Derrick Abu, Richard Olise and Tendel Mendel-Idowu were named in Chelsea' s starting lineup.
Ebiowei opened the scoring for the home team from the penalty spot but goals from Badley-Morgan and Charlie Webster gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at the break.
The Anglo-Dutch-Nigerian midfielder equalised for Derby County five minutes into the second half only for Mothersille to restore the Blues one-goal cushion when he pounced on a rebound and slotted home at minute 55.
Honours were even again nineteen minutes into the second half when Ebiowei completed his hat-trick with a curling effort from distance.
Chelsea finished top of Group D with seven points and are through to the quarterfinals while Derby County have two points from three matches.
