Nigeria's interim boss Augustine Eguavoen has acknowledged that Nantes winger Moses Simon has been the most exciting Super Eagles player so far at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations but has stressed the importance of playing as a unit and not relying on individuals.
The Confederation of African Football recognized Simon for the good job he has done for the Super Eagles by including him in the Best XI for the group stage.
Apart from his goal and assist in three games, Simon has lit up the tournament in
Cameroon with his dribbling and pace on the left flank, and would have
scored arguably the best goal of AFCON 2021 if his powerful shot had not
cannoned off the crossbar in Nigeria's last match against
Guinea-Bissau.
When asked whether he has any tactical approach going into the round of 16 tie versus Tunisia with Simon the most exciting player for the Super Eagles, Eguavoen said at Saturday's press conference: "Thank God we have someone who is very exciting, you know him Moses Simon.
"The team is working as a team, we don't want to focus on individual players. My answer on Sadiq, it's a team game not an individual game.
"When you have a chance to assist, assist, when you have a chance to score, score, so it's the same message to Ndidi, Simon, Ekong, to everyone so there is no special tactics or strategy it's the same way we approach the entire games."
There are no prizes for guessing that Simon will return to the Super Eagles starting lineup to face Tunisia after starting on the bench in the dead rubber clash with Guinea-Bissau.
