Rangers ace Aribo admits he has not been at his best since returning from AFCON 2021

Joe Aribo has admitted that he has not been at his best for Glasgow Rangers since returning to the club from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The central midfielder has managed just one goal in nine appearances across all competitions this calendar year and in terms of assists he has registered two during that period.

At Friday's pre-match press conference before the visit of Aberdeen, Aribo noted that he's experiencing a dip in form and wants to prove his worth in the business end of the season.

"For me personally, I've wanted to get more numbers in terms of goals and assists, I think for myself I've not been at my best compared to how I was before I left for my international," Aribo said.

"But, in football, you have these dips in form throughout a season. Hopefully, I can move past that and come tomorrow you can see a strong performance and move forward from there. "

Aribo feels he needs to put in extra work to return to the form he was at before joining the Nigeria squad in January.

"I think I just need to work my hardest to get back into form and that's what I'm doing every single day.

"I want to be my best when I'm on the pitch so that's what I'm hoping to do," he concluded.

Aribo impressed for the Super Eagles despite their early elimination from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, bagging a crucial assist in a 1-0 win over Egypt in the group stage.

The 25-year-old is hoping to reach the World Cup with Nigeria when they tackle Ghana at the National Stadium in Abuja on March 29.
