Fresh from finishing fourth in the Women’s Yashin Trophy, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie recorded her second clean sheet in the Women's Super League as Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Toni Payne’s Everton 1-0 at Broadfield Stadium on Sunday.

Nnadozie made an impressive start to her Women's Super League career by posting a clean sheet on the opening day of the season in a goalless draw against Aston Villa.

Everton applied early pressure, with Yuka Momiki and Katja Snoeijs threatening Brighton's defence. 

But Nnadozie stood firm, showing composure and sharp reflexes, and capped her display with a stunning diving save to deny Rosa Van Gool, underlining why she was nominated for the Yashin Trophy this year.

The Seagulls got into the break with a 1-0 lead, courtesy of Michelle Agyemang, who volleyed home a rebound to break the deadlock.

In the second half, Vignola's near-post effort was brilliantly anticipated and saved by Nnadozie, who dived sharply to deny the forward.

With 14 minutes remaining, Toni Payne was introduced from the bench in place of Hayashi as Everton pushed in search of an equaliser.

Nnadozie's commanding displays saw her crowned Best Goalkeeper at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, while also earning a historic Yashin Trophy nomination, becoming the first African goalkeeper ever to be recognised at the Ballon d'Or.
