Bologna Give Ex-Golden Eaglets Star Orji Okonkwo Green Light To Join Avellino

Nigeria youth international Orji Okonkwo might depart Bologna before the close of the January transfer window, with president of Avellino, Walter Taccone stating that the Serie B club have reached an agreement with The Red and Blues.

The 20-year-old's imminent move to Avellino will aid his development in Italy as he is expected to be a regular starter at the club.

Okonkwo has been named in Bologna's starting line-up only once this term, with Simone Verdi, Mattia Destro and Rodrigo Palacio ahead of him in the pecking order of strikers.

''For Okonwko we have the approval of Bologna, while Morero from Monday will be at our disposal as he expressed wanting to end the career in Serie B,'' Walter Taccone said to Radio Punto Nuovo.

Okonkwo is the sixth youngest player to score in the Italian top-flight this season, he was aged 19 years, 8 months and 5 days when he found the net against Sassuolo in September.

The Bologna number 30 has scored 3 goals in 21 appearances for the club across all competitions.
