PETER UTAKA Creates New Record In Chinese Super League

Chinese Super League club Dalian Aerbin may be struggling in the league. Only two points separate them from bottom of the table Henan Jianye.

Dalian Aerbin supporters have something to smile about. Their Nigerian marksman Peter Utaka has created a record for scoring in consecutive matches in the championship, netting eight goals in seven games on the bounce.

It could have been nine strikes for the former OB Odense hit-man but his last 'goal' in the 5-2 spanking of Shandong Luneng was taken from him and rightly awarded to a teammate.

The previous record was held by a retired Guangdong Hongyuan player who notched 6 goals in nine matches. Serbian forward Branko Jelic then playing for Beijing Guoan scored nine times in six matches to tie the record in the 2005 season. Utaka can now boast of being the sole record holder.

Peter Utaka is the second highest goalscorer in China's top division with 12 hits in 20 matches. Only Jiangsu Sainty's Cristian Däƒnäƒlache has been more prolific in front of goal than the Super Eagle.
