Published: July 10, 2013
This is official. Nigeria international Peter Utaka has penned a two - and - a - half - year deal with Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan.
The 29 - year - old hit-man was unveiled by Beijing Guoan on Tuesday evening after passing a traditional medical examination.
In his first words after the transfer was completed, Utaka admitted that he chose to join the capital club because he had a good relationship with manager Aleksandar Stanojevi and the team was ambitious.
Speaking to reporters, Utaka said: ''I and the old club Aerbin do not have any conflict. Coming to Beijing Guon is a normal move.
''I want to train hard in the team. The position is determined by the coach but I want to say I am a true forward, do not like to play the wing, but if the coach arranged for me to play the wing, I would choose to obey .
''How many goals I would score? I can not say an exact number , just hope I score in every game.''
According to media reports in China, Beijing Guoan's bank balance will be reduced by 2 million euros, being the transfer fee for the Super Eagles player.
Peter Utaka will reportedly earn 2 million euros a season, meaning he would have pocketed approximately 1 billion naira in Nigeria currency at the end of his contract.
For the remainder of the season, the former OB Odense, Royal Antwerp and Dinamo Zagreb ace will play with the number 15 jersey.
