Rivers Angels Raid Osun Babes, Bobruichanka, Bayelsa Queens
Published: February 08, 2014
Rivers Angels funded by the state government, are not pretentious of their ambition in the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) this season.
Edwin Okon has taken his recruitment drive to Oshogbo, Bobruisk and Yenogoa where he was able to sign Aminat from Osun Babes, Loveth Ayila from Bobruichanka and Ugo Njoku from Bayelsa Queens.
Though the Fed Cup champions lost the Champion of Champions Challenge Cup to Nasarawa Amazons on Thursday, they are back in Port Harcourt to intensify their preparation for the new season expected to kickoff on 1st March, with the Rivers Angels on the road to visit arch rivals, Delta Queen, in Oleh.
According to coach Okon, “the girls have forgotten about the sad loss to Amazons and are in high spirit because salaries are being paid as at when due. And the team will resume training for the new season on Monday.
“We are planning to engage one or two sides in friendlies to condition the girls,” the dark skinned tactician said with a smile.
