Lawyer Tells Keshi: Nigeria Needs Ike Uche, Taiwo And Obasi
Published: April 21, 2014
Foremost Nigerian sports lawyer Barrister Johnny Precious Ogbah, has advised Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi to act like the father he is and bury whatever hatchet he has with Ike Uche in the best interest of the Super Eagles.
Stephen Keshi is preparing to announce his provisional World Cup list any moment from now.
“The best interest of the Super Eagles is paramount, and if we are to make a reasonable impact in the World Cup then all our best legs must be given a chance to fight for a place in the team.
“Ike Uche is doing very well in the La Liga, and no matter what grievances the coach has against him.
“ If he (Keshi) wants the best for Nigerian football he should call the young lad back because the alternatives he has aren’t as good as IK,” began the amiable young Barrister who is the Head of Sports Law (Africa) of Activity Chambers UK.
“At the Confederations Cup, we had the opportunity to do very well but our strike force was ineffective and so we crashed out early.
“The World Cup is even tougher because teams like Tahiti won’t be there to give up easy goals. Keshi needs Ikechukwu Uche and Chinedu Obasi who has returned to form and action at the right time because experience matters.
“Obasi is a big game player and with Argentina in our group, we must take him to the World Cup.”
“Another position that needs to be addressed is the left full back position. Elderson Echiejile is warming the bench in Monaco whereas Taye Taiwo is playing regularly in Bursaspor in Turkey.
“Based on current form, he too should be given a chance because his free kicks and bullet shots can be useful to the Super Eagles.
