Portland Timbers Manager, Porter Excited To Have Fanendo Adi
Published: May 16, 2014
MLS outfit Portland Timbers bolstered their ranks by signing Fanendo Adi, 23, on a short - term loan from FC Copenhagen at the start of this week.
Manager Caleb Porter had limited options in attack with only Maximiliano Urruti and Gaston Fernandez available for selection after Frederic Piquionne was granted compassionate leave to attend to urgent family matters.
“With Adi, you get a guy that’s good in the air, a guy that can hold the ball up, so we’re obviously excited to have a third striker and a third option.
“More than anything we needed someone to replace Freddy, plain and simple,” Caleb Porter told the official website, timbers.com.
Fanendo Adi, who is still in Copenhagen, will join his new teammates sometime next week and that’s subject to a successful visa application.
