Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm that Rizespor defender Godfrey Oboabona featured in the Turkish side’s pre- season friendly that took place on Saturday against Fulham, contrary to reports in a section of the local media.
The Nigeria international suffered a foot injury at this summer’s World Cup that limited his appearances at the tournament.
However, that ailment is a thing of the past as he was on parade in the second half at the Jenbach Stadium, Austria today.
A late goal by Cauley Woodrow saw Rizespor losing 1 - 0 to the English Championship side.
“I resumed pre - season training three days ago. I can confirm I played in today’s friendly with Fulham. I was on the pitch for 45 minutes,” Godfrey Oboabona told allnigeriasoccer.com.
In his debut season in Europe, the Rizespor number 2 suited up 19 times in the Super Lig.
