Excitement As NDDC MD/CEO Cup Set To Begin At Liberation StadiumThere is excitement in the air within the rank and file of staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC as the eagerly awaited second edition of the NDDC MD/CEO  Cup 2014 gets underway.

The football tournament exclusively organized for staff of NDDC is expected to hold between the 17th to the 21st of November 2014 at the prestigious Port Harcourt Liberation stadium in Elekahia.

Speaking to newsmen, the sporting consultant to the tournament Amb. Prince Stanley Sylva noted that the 204 edition has been specially planned to ensure that it turns out a remarkable success bigger and better than the pioneer edition in 2013.

According to him twelve (12) departments cutting across the nine (9) NDDC states in the country are expected to slug it out against each other in a fiercely contested five day football explosion to determine champion for the 2014 edition.

Sylva disclosed that the first edition held last year under erstwhile MD/CEO Dr. Christian Oboh witnessed a resounding success with the Security Department carting home the trophy as champions.

The NDDC MD/CEO cup consultant gave assurances that the bars for this year’s tournament has been raised, following an improvement in the planning and inclusion of more exciting features to add colour and verve to the event.

Amb Prince Stanley Sylva used the opportunity to thank and commend the incumbent MD/CEO, Daniel Abia on his love for sports and physical well-being of his staff.

He expressed gratitude on his decision to sustain the legacy of past MD/CEO, Christian Oboh, assuring him that the objective of the event to create some level of physical training for staff, encourage healthy competition outside the confines of work place and promotion of unity and peaceful co-existence will be achieved.

He said all roads are expected to lead to the Liberation Stadium Elekahia from the 17th to the 21st of November 2014, adding that two matches are expected to be played daily with kicks off time of 3pm and 5pm on the weekdays, while weekend matches start from 8am in the morning.
