In the 17th round of matches in the Spanish topflight, Villarreal ended their seven - game winning streak following their 2 - 2 draw with Elche at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero .

Luciano Vietto opened scoring in the 12th minute and Nigeria international Ikechukwu Uche doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Jonathas and Víctor Rodríguez were on the score - sheet in the 26th and 35th minute respectively for Elche.

Uche will reach the 100 - goal milestone in Spain if he finds the back of the net next weekend against Malaga.

Villarreal occupy the sixth position on the table with 31 points, one more than Malaga who have a game in hand.
