Odeniran Emerges Chairman of Oyo FA, Pledges Aggressive Marketing Drive

Chief James Odeniran on Wednesday has recorded a landslide victory at the Oyo State Football Association elections held at the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education Oyo, securing the whole 12 votes from the 12 delegates to defeat his opponent Elder Oloyede Babatunde.
Alhaji Moronkade Abiyemi from Oyo East council area of the state also emerged the vice chairman unopposed, while the Coach Oloyede Idowu, Barr. Alli Tajudeen Olurotimi won a seat to represent Oyo South senatorial district on the board of the FA at the expense of Oladeni Michael.
Other members that returned unopposed included Ayangbile Isaac Olawale and Alh. Azeez Amusa Adeniyi that would be representing Oyo North senatorial district while Ogunleye John Kayode and Olawuwo Babatunde Samson, a Sports journalist with Splash FM would also represent Oyo Central senatorial district on the board of newly constituted of Oyo FA.
The election was however adjudged free and fair by all the aspirants, delegates and every observer that witnessed the process in their individual reactions to newsmen after the exercise as the winners and losers after the polls were also seen embracing and congratulated each other.
After the swearing-in-ceremony that was done by Barr. Adewole Adegoke who also doubles as the Chairman of the Appeal committee, the newly elected Oyo FA boss in his acceptance speech vowed to tackle the lack of enough fund indentified as major problems that always impede the development of football at the state level by embarking on an aggressive marketing drive to bring in investors.
The retired FIFA referee also pledged to approach the development of the game at the grassroots with every sense of seriousness going by the large volume of grassroots teams in the Oyo State which reflected in the numbers of teams, numbering more than 100 participating annually in the Ibadan Football Association League (IFA).
