La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid are interested in signing Super Eagles star John Obi Mikel from Chelsea in the summer transfer market.

Current Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti tutored Mikel while he was coaching Chelsea from 2009 - 2011, and it would be a reunion for master and pupil if the transfer materializes.
The 28 - year - old has seen his first team opportunities limited at Chelsea since the arrival of Serbia international Nemanja Mati in January 2014, and reports suggesting that he would severe ties with the Londoners in the next few months are not out of topic.
Obi Mikel, who is in his ninth season with Chelsea, has two more years before his contract with The Blues expires.
