FIFA recently decided that John Owoeri must pay SEK 1.3 million (equivalent of $150,000) in damages to his former club Ismaily for unilaterally terminating his contract without just cause three years ago.
Since the Nigeria international can not be forced to pay his current club åtvidabergs FF must cough up the fine
John Owoeri will walk away as a free agent in the next two months unless he extends his stay at Kopparvallen.
“ We are now discussing with Atvidaberg to extend the contract,” said agent Hasan Cetinkaya to Fotbollskanalen.se , according to fotbolltransfers.com.
“ Contract Extension has to do with the situation that has arisen and that Owoeri want to show his loyalty to Atvidaberg.
“ He has a contract that runs out and we do this to avoid that he should have to go as Bosman and instead help the club.
“ I will work hard to sell the player, and the way to get this money to Atvidaberg.”
John Owoeri has netted 3 goals in 6 league appearances so far this season.
