Wikki Held To A Stalemate By Giwa
Published: July 02, 2015
Wikki Tourists were held to a 1-1 draw by Giwa FC in a Nigeria Professional Football League match at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Wednesday.
This was Wikki’s 4th draw from 15 league games and the Bauchi giants are now 3rd on the log while Giwa are in 4th place with 25 points.
The energetic Godwin Obaje was denied by the woodwork when he latched on to a cross from Ahmed Mohammed in the 25th minute.
Giwa skipper Charles Henlong also went on an excellent individual run from his half, but shot was a little bit wayward.
Although Wikki scored first through Ibrahim Mustapha’s screamer in the 55th minute, Giwa had a glut of chances. Yet they only managed to equalise through Ibrahim Shuaibu in the 70th minute despite having the bulk of possession.
Giwa dominated the hosts but frivolous shots at goal by their attackers cost them victory.
The homers were lucky to escape with a point and Giwa were unlucky not to have scored more.
