Published: July 06, 2015
Second-half goals from Oladimeji Hassan and Kadiri Samad gave Bayelsa United a 2-0 victory over Warri Wolves in a Nigeria Professional Football League encounter on Sunday.
The match played at the Oghara Township Stadium was clearly won by the Restoration Boys, but they were initially frustrated in their attempts to score.
However, Hassan and Kadiri registered inside the final half-hour as Bayelsa United moved out of the relegation zone for the first time in many weeks.
Bayelsa United midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu struck a 21 metres free kick that canoon off the bar in the 7th minute.
The away team too had opportunities too - Michael Ojoyoh spurning perhaps their best effort over the crossbar from close range.
Wolves goalkeeper Okeimute Odah was called into the thick of the action. He was at alert to deny Eric Frimpong and Musa Najare in the first half.
Ten minutes into the second half, Hassan was at the right place to finish off Tonbara Tiongoli’s pass.
Substitute Kadiri made it two three minutes from time with a low strike inside the area as Bayelsa United recorded their 4th league win of the season.
