Rivers State Governor Redeems Monetary Pledge To Nigeria U23s

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has redeemed his monetary pledge to the Dream Team after scoring two goals against the Congolese in an African U23 Championship qualifier on Sunday.
For every goal scored, the football loving governor had promised to part with $30,000 (equivalent of =N=7.2 million) and $100,000 if the national team scored three un - replied goals.
And that means the Nigeria Under 23s are $60,000 ( =N=14.4 million ) richer after Wike handed the money over to them on Monday.
The Governor appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation to bring more matches of the national teams to Port Harcourt, adding that the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium is one of the best in the land.
The Samson Siasia led side will remain in the Garden City for the next one week ahead of their trip to Congo for the second leg.
