Published: July 31, 2015
Cambridge City have released a statement on their official website confirming that a deal has been offered to strong central defender Philip Ojapah for this coming season after impressing during trial matches.
The Anglo - Nigerian previously represented AFC Liverpool, Oldham Athletic, Burscough, Accrington Stanley and Rhyl.
Ojapah’s representative, Concorde Sports, told allnigeriasoccer.com : “Phil’s parents are Nigerian. He’s 6ft-5in, and has the feet of midfielder. Strong in the air ... very Yaya/Viera-ish.
“He got 4/5s & 5/5s in an American combine but wasn’t picked, and I swore off pay-to-play American soccer combines.”
Philip Ojapah is expected to be named in the Cambridge City squad on Saturday when they tackle Histon in the Cambs Professional Cup Final.
His minders describe him as an intelligent player who can retain possession or play long accurate passes, and he can be handy in midfield.
