NWPL: Confluence Queens Walk Over Doves In Lokoja
Published: September 02, 2015Nigeria Women Premier League side, Confluence Queens FC on Wednesday in Lokoja got a three points free as they walked over their opponent Martin Whyte Doves of Edo who failed to honor the Week 13 encounter.
The match officials led by Match Commissioner Adanna Nwaneri and Center Referee Hannah Elaigwu, all from FCT waited for the Benin based club and ensured the 30 minutes grace was given before the walk-over rituals were conducted.
Reacting on the development walk-over, Chairman of Confluence Queens, Mallam Abdul Sule believed his side have successfully carried out the walk-over process and already looking ahead to their next double away matches against Osun Babes and same opponent Martin Whyte Doves in Ede and Benin respectively.
“We have played our own part to ensure every arrangements are in places to host our opponent, but to our surprise, they never showed up to reasons best known to them,” begins Sule who was a former striker of Stationery Stores FC.
“Our focus now is to concentrate on our next away matches against Osun Babes and Martin Whyte Doves, and I’m optimistic this will help us prepare well enough to those games,” he said.
Sule is however, optimistic that his side will finish among the teams that will participate later in the Nigeria Women Super Six.
“Our target is to make this year’s Super Six, we will not relent until we achieved our target, it has been a wonderful season for us and to end among the best six clubs in Nigeria will cap a good season for us.”
Confluence Queens have so far garnered 20 points from 12 matches and will faces Osun Babes and Martin Whtye Doves both away from home as the NWPL gradually coming to an end.
