Published: September 24, 2015
San Jose Earthquakes Designated Player Innocent Emeghara is on the road to recovery after picking up a career- threatening injury on May 1 during his team’s 1 - 1 draw with Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Having started individual training with the Quakes after undergoing surgery to repair a damaged meniscus, the Switzerland international is targeting a return to action in the final four games of the MLS season.
“For me, it’s very important, I want to play more games before the season ends so I can feel really good about next season, ” Innocent Emeghara told reporters, according to mlssoccer.com.
“Sometimes, in the training, the knee tells me to stop. But I think I am getting well, very, very well. Every week, I feel more comfortable.
“If we win three of the four (remaining) games, we may be in the playoffs. But it’s going to be very, very difficult.”
The former Grasshoper and Siena forward had 7 games under his belt before the knee injury curtailed his appearances.
