Obi Mikel Maintains Players Are Backing Jose Mourinho
Published: November 02, 2015
Super Eagles star John Obi Mikel has claimed that the players are backing under - fire Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
The Londoners started the defense of their Premier League title poorly, with their latest defeat coming against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge last weekend, and it is being rumoured that the Portuguese coach might be sacked in the coming days.
“We are right behind the manager,” Mikel said, according to The Guardian UK.
“There’s no doubt about it. In training we work very hard. If anyone can turn this around, we definitely think he’s the one. Last year we were champions.
“We won two trophies. José knows this club more than any other manager. He’s the most successful manager in the club’s history.”
The long - serving midfielder added : “ I definitely think that, if anything is wrong, if anything can be fixed, he is the one. There’s no one out there that is going to come in and fix what’s going on.
“If you tell the team that we are not giving 100% then there is the doubt, but we are giving 100%, we are playing for the manager, we are right behind him.”
Mikel has been involved in 8 games for Chelsea in all competitions since the start of the 2015 - 16 campaign and has been named in the starting XI five times.
