FOSLA Academy Emerge FCT Principals Cup Champions

FOSLA Academy Karshi on Tuesday emerged champions of the first edition of the FCT Principals Cup Football Competition, when they defeated the Government Secondary School Yangoji by two goals to nil.
The match which was evenly contested by the two teams, saw the Yangoji boys conceding two penalties in each half of the game.
The first penalty came in the 38th minute when rampaging Abraham Solomon was badly brought down in the vital area by the Yangoji defenders.
Abraham stood up to neatly tuck in the kick. In the 78th minute of the play, Friday Ejeh’s was also brought down in the penalty area, and Solomon Abraham stepped forward to increase his goal tally in tournament to eleven goals.
The FOSLA boys who played more brilliantly all through the game smiled home with four trophies, among which were the highest goal scorer award won by Solomon Abraham, the most valuable player award also won by the same player, and the Karshi zone champions.
Haruna Farouk of Government Secondary School Yangoji won the best goalkeeper award and a scholarship from the Association of Principals of Secondary Schools in FCT, while his school also won the Kwali zone champions trophy.
Government Secondary School Zuba which had earlier won the third place trophy by defeating Model Secondary School Maitama by six goals to four on penalties, won the fair play trophy.
Jennifer Ezimakor an SS3 student of Government Secondary School Wuse 3 won the mascot design competition, while the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (FCT Chapter) won a merit award trophy for supporting the competition.
Among the dignitaries that watched the final match were the FCT Director of Sports Alhaji Musa Alim who represented the Permanent Secretary in the FCTA, former NFF President Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, who is also the Proprietor of FOSLA Academy, former NFA Secretary General Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, and his successor in the office, Ambassador Fanny Amun.
Others include former House Committee on Sports Chairman, Hon Godfrey Gaya, the Director of the FCT Secondary Education Board Hajiya Rakiyat Daniya, the President of Association of Principals of Secondary Schools in FCT Alhaji Sani Mohammed Ladan, and his counterpart from the Private Schools Hajiya Samira Jibir.
Speaking at the occasion, the FCT FA Chairman Alhaji Musa Talle was full of appreciation to all football stakeholders in FCT for rallying the FA to actualize the dream.
He promised that preparations for the next year’s edition will begin immediately, and appealed to corporate bodies to fully identify with competition which has come to stay in FCT.
