Agent Explains Reason Behind Chrisantus Botched Move To Ponferradina, Kaiserslautern
Published: February 02, 2016
Greek club AEK Athens could not offload Macauley Chrisantus before the transfer window slammed shut in most part of Europe on Monday night.
Spanish Segunda Division team SD Ponferradina were frontrunners for the signature of the ex-Golden Eaglets striker, only for the transfer to collapse on deadline day.
Chrisantus’s intermediary is anticipating that his client will remain with the capital side until this summer but has not ruled out a shift to either Ukraine or China, where there is interest and the market remains wide open until end of this month.
“Macauley is the best child and has not caused the slightest problem. Ask anyone you want at AEK. They told him to leave the group and said OK,” Macauley’s agent said to Sports Day.
“The problem was and why he remains a player of AEK Athens, the club were asking for money, they did not want him to leave free but only with a sale.
“ There is interest from these countries(China and Ukraine). But I repeat it will be done only if left free. Otherwise he will stay in AEK until the end of the season, when his contract expires and then we will see.”
FC Kaiserslautern and Elche were among the clubs circling for the former Hamburg and Sivasspor frontman in the January transfer window.
