Hope Akpan Cleared To Face West Ham, But Delfouneso Misses Out
Published: February 20, 2016
Blackburn Rovers have been given a boost ahead of their FA Cup clash against West Ham at Ewood Park, with Hope Akpan set to return to the squad after sitting out Tuesday’s Championship tie versus Fulham due to illness.
Manager Paul Lambert revealed at a press conference that the Super Eagles midfielder wasn’t one of the players on the treatment table.
Ex-England youth international Nathan Delfouneso is on the road to recovery but the game against West Ham has come too soon for him.
Hope Akpan, 24, a summer signing from Reading, went the distance in Blackburn Rovers’s 2-1 win against Newport County but wasn’t in the squad that saw off Oxford United in the fourth round.
West Ham’s Nigerian trio Victor Moses, Emmanuel Emenike and Angelo Ogbonna have no fitness worries and are all available for selection.
