Aaron Samuel underwent surgery at a German hospital on Thursday after damaging his knee ligaments during the first half of the Russian Cup final between CSKA Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg.

The Guangzhou R&F frontman is definitely out of the Super Eagles World Cup qualifier in October as doctors told him after the operation that he will be out of action for a minimum of six months.

“Aaron Samuel is going to be out for six to seven months, he did the operation on Thursday in Germany and it was successful,” Samuel’s intermediary, Atta Aneke, told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“He will remain in Germany for the next seven days, before traveling to Norway for his rehabilitation.”
