Published: July 29, 2016
With only six days left before their opener at the 2016 Olympic Games against Japan, it is safe to say the Nigeria U23 National Team are stranded in Atlanta, where they are holding a get-together before the competition in Brazil.
The Dream Team VI players and officials were expected to depart their training camp on Friday July 29, but are still in America and unsure when they will hop on a plane for Rio, and have not trained for the past two days.
“The players are still in America an no one knows when they will leave Atlanta. Officials have claimed that they will travel tomorrow or next tomorrow but it is not certain, ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“For the past two days they have stopped training, but may train tonight. ”
On Wednesday evening, the Nigeria U23s thrashed an African XI 12-0 in a training game and that was the last time coach Samson Siasia evaluated the players in camp.
