Hot Prospect Tomori Remains In Chelsea Plans Despite Snub Ahead Bristol Rovers Clash
Published: August 23, 2016
England U19 international of Nigerian descent Fikayo Tomori is unlikely to make his first appearance of the new season when the first team of Chelsea square off against Bristol Rovers in the Football League Cup tonight.
It is anticipated that the central defender will not suit up against the League One side at Stamford Bridge, for the simple reason that he went the distance in yesterday’s clash between the Blues U23 squad and Liverpool in the Premier League 2.
Tomori will take solace in the fact that he remains in the plans of manager Antonio Conte, having been listed among the first-team players when Chelsea announced their roster just before their first game of the new season.
The Calgary-born stopper made his professional debut for Chelsea in their 1-1 draw with champions Leicester City on the final day of last season.
He was named Chelsea FC’s Academy Player of the Year in 2016.
