Why Leeds United Passed Up Opportunity To Sign Liverpool Midfielder Ejaria
Published: February 01, 2017
Championship side Leeds United passed up the opportunity to sign Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria on loan before the close of the summer transfer window.
Manager Jurgen Klopp had sanctioned the temporary transfer of the former Golden Eaglets trainee to Leeds, only for the West Yorkshire-based club to pull out of the deal because of a long term injury he recently suffered.
The German manager has confirmed that Ejaria sustained an injury in the first half of the FA Cup loss against Wolves last weekend and he will be out of action for a while.
“I don’t exactly know how this works but he got a knock in the first half, half-time he got treatment, and everybody was asking if it was good [and he said] it was good, ” Klopp told liverpoolfc.com.
“I couldn’t see anything in the second half and he woke up the next morning and it was [swollen]. These boys really want [to play] - if there’s any doubt about it - even the very young ones.
“Now he’s obviously out for a while. [The syndesmosis] is a ligament between the shin bone and the [ankle]. ”
Ejaria has recorded eight appearances for the Reds first team this season, logging 429 minutes.
