Published: February 08, 2017
Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua have failed to make the group stage of the AFC Champions League following a 2-0 loss to Brisbane Roar in the third qualifying round on Wednesday, February 8.
Nigeria international Obafemi Martins had a debut to forget in the AFC Champions League after firing blanks in the ninety minutes he spent on the Hongkou Football Stadium turf.
Having said that, the former Inter Milan and Newcastle star was the liveliest Shanghai Shenhua player on the pitch, and had a couple of chances to reduce the deficit.
Martins has UEFA Champions League under his belt and was a non-playing substitute in Seattle Sounders’ 3-0 rout of Vancouver Whitecaps in the CONCACAF version in September 2015.
