Iwobi Struck Down With Flu, Makes Himself Available For Senegal, Burkina Faso Friendlies
Published: March 10, 2017
Arsenal wonderkid Alex Iwobi is not in danger of missing Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly matches against Senegal and Burkina Faso, amid speculations in the local media that he is all but ruled out of the games because of illness.
It is believed more fuel was added to those rumours because the Gunners coach Arsene Wenger didn’t specify the nature of the attacking midfielder’s illness while addressing the national press on Thursday.
Iwobi’s adviser, retired Nigeria international Emma Okocha, has been contacted to clear the air on the availability of his nephew for the matches at the Hive Stadium in London.
“Iwobi had flu, he will be okay to play the March friendlies. I suppose he will play if he is selected by the coach, ” Emma Okocha told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Since Iwobi made his competitive debut for the national team in March 2016, the current CAF Youth Player Of The Year has been involved in all the Super Eagles games except September’s AFCON qualifier versus Tanzania, which he missed as a result of a thigh injury.
