Algeria Appoint Spaniard As Coach With Almost Impossible Task Of Qualifying For World CupThe Algerian Football Federation have announced Lucas Alcaraz as the successor to Georges Leekens, few days after he was dismissed as coach of struggling La Liga outfit Granada.

The 50-year-old Spaniard has agreed a two-year deal with the FAF, with a renewal option for two additional years.

In recent years, Alcaraz coached Levante and Elche and had experience abroad with Greek club Aris Thessaloniki.

The Super Eagles lead the so-called Group of Death with six points from two matches, and it looks like an impossible task for the new Algerian manager to revive the 2018 World Cup qualifying hopes of the the Fennecs.

The North Africans were without a coach for three months following the resignation of Georges Leekens.
