Tottenham Hotspur Beat Arsenal To England's Top Young Talent Alli, Wenger Reveals

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club scouted Dele Alli several times before he transferred to Tottenham Hotspur in 2015.
Ahead of the Gunners visit to White Hart Lane on Sunday, the Frenchman has heaped praise onto the Tottenham Hotspur number 20, describing him as a goalscoring midfielder.
“He played for MK, down the road here. You have to say he’s done extremely well, ” Wenger told the national press.
“He works very well, he’s a complete player and very dangerous. He scores goals – absolutely marvellous at his age.”
Wenger added : “They’ve done well to buy him and give him a chance, they deserve credit for that.
“We watched him a few times I’m sure because we watched MK a lot.”
Dele Alli was also the subject of interest from Liverpool but the Reds chiefs pulled the plug on the deal because he was too expensive for a teenager.
