NFF Explain Why Wolves GK Ikeme Was Wiped Off The List Of Invitees To Training Camp
Published: May 09, 2017
As previously reported by allnigeriasoccer.com, Wolverhampton Wanderers glovesman Carl Ikeme had been included on the list of players called up to the Super Eagles training camp.
But when the list was made public on Monday, Ikeme's name was missing because he did not give assurances that he'll be in tiptop condition before the start of the get-together on May 23.
The 30-year-old has been inactive for Wolves since March 18, when he lasted the distance against Fulham, due to a hamstring injury he sustained just before reporting for international duty for the friendly versus Senegal.
''Injury has ruled out first –choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme of Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Championship, leaving home –based Ikechukwu Ezenwa to fight it out with fellow former junior international Dele Alampasu for the slot between the sticks,'' the NFF stated in a press release.
Carl Ikeme has posted six shutouts since making his debut for the Super Eagles against Tanzania in September 2015.
