Exclusive: Why Chelsea Defender Ola Aina Has Not Joined Super Eagles Training Camp
Published: May 30, 2017
Promising Chelsea defender Ola Aina has not yet turned up in the Super Eagles training camp in Paris because of the delay in the processing his onetime allegiance switch to Nigeria.
A top source close to the right wing-back is optimistic that the switch will be approved by Fifa before the end of this week.
''Ola Aina has not yet reported for international duty because he has some things to sort out,'' he told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''His clearance from Fifa has not yet come. France is not far away, he will leave England as soon as possible if the paperwork is in place. He is one hundred percent committed to Nigeria.''
The Nigeria Football Federation plan to tie Aina to the Super Eagles, and manager Gernot Rohr might hand him a debut against South Africa if Fifa approve his change of international allegiance.
Ola Aina played competitive games for England at U19 level, the European Championship qualifiers.
