Ex-Super Eagles Manager Explains Why He Called Up Omoijuanfo To Norway Senior Team
Published: June 03, 2017
Nigeria are set to miss out on the services of former Manchester City trialist Ohi Omoijuanfo, with Norway national team manager Lars Lagerbäck handing him a maiden call-up for the World Cup qualifier against Czech Republic and the friendly against Sweden in June.
The former Super Eagles World Cup manager has explained why he called up the Stabæk frontman, who is the leading scorer in the Norwegian topflight with nine goals to his name from eleven matches.
''We have someone who has done well in the Eliteserien and he deserves a chance now,'' says Lagerbäck to fotball.no.
''Ohi is a young and very talented player. I think he has the ability to read on goal chances and is definitely a player to build on for the future. "
Born in Oslo to a Nigerian father and Norwegian mom, Ohi, who regularly visits Nigeria, previously expressed his interest to represent the Super Eagles but was snubbed by the Nigerian Federation.
