The green and white flag Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos wrapped himself in after the Spanish champions won the Champions League on Saturday wasn't a Nigerian flag, amid speculations that he was promoting the country.
Ramos was born in the province of Seville, Andalusia, an autonomous community in southern Spain.
The Nigerian flag has a vertical bicolour triband of green, white and green; with the Coat of arms in the centre, but the Andalusian flag consists of three equal horizontal stripes, colored green, white, and green.
In the television images, the entirety of the Andalusian flag was being blocked by Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić, hence the added confusion of it being a Nigerian flag.
Ramos began his career with hometown club Sevilla, spending nine years with The White and Reds, before he was snapped up by Real Madrid in 2005.
