Nigerians Blast Rohr For Starting Awaziem Ahead Of Chelsea's Omeruo : Not A Super Eagles Material
Published: June 11, 2017
Nigerian fans have criticized Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr for starting the inexperienced Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem ahead of Chelsea's Kenneth Omeruo in Saturday's shock 2-0 loss to South Africa.
Awaziem was at fault for the first goal conceded by the Super Eagles, was lucky not to have given away a penalty in the second half and getting himself booked after clearly fouling a South African player in the box.
Here are the best Twitter reactions on the woeful performance of Awaziem :
@finnitovic : ''our 2 full backs were awful. Awaziem not yet ready. Onazi dead guy can't anchor the middle Iheanacho is a creative midfielder''
@Michael96683812 : ''He gat a historic defeat bcos of improper planning, why will he drop omerou from d defence for awaziem.''
@joeltaiwo : ''Chodozie Awaziem right? Mixing his name up with the Stanley Amuzie u mentioned earlier. Rohr messed up starting him ahead of omeruo. Troost not a finished article but shine when Balogun played. Awaziem isn't U23 materials.IF RANTIE can muscle u, then u are not SE player''
@Derek74399105 : ''Awaziem at best should stil be playing U-20 or Olympic football at this moment, not SE ...same for Ebuehi ...but let me keep shut 😏''
@TheOddSolace : ''Have lost count of how many clearances Awaziem has sliced horribly. Not going to scapegoat him—he's not the one who selected himself.''
Only last year, Chidozie Awaziem had set his sights on representing the Dream Team VI at the 2016 Olympic Games but was not considered good enough by coach Samson Siasia.
