Super Eagles Target Tipped To Depart Arsenal After Fifteen Years
Published: June 13, 2017
Nigeria Football Federation target Chuba Akpom's future at Arsenal has been a topic for discussion following his lack of first team opportunities in recent seasons.
Manager Arsene Wenger recently named two young players he expects to join the Arsenal first team next season, and the Frenchman omitted the England U21 international fueling speculation he is set for another loan spell if he is not sold outright.
''There has been a considerable amount of hype around Akpom for many years, with the striker having broken into what was then the U21 team when he was just 16 years old,'' Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird told football.london.
''Fast forward half a decade, however, and, while Akpom boasts an excellent scoring record for England at youth level and in club pre-season friendlies, there is a genuine possibility that he could be sold this summer.''
Akpom joined Arsenal at the age of six, rose through the youth ranks before making his first team debut against Sunderland on September 14, 2013.
The 21-year-old previously enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Brighton & Hove Albion.
